Preserving memories and honoring lives is what we do here at Solace House. Therefore we are honored to be the recipient of a very special fundraiser called Hannah’s Heart.

Hannah’s Heart is a beautiful lavender pillar candle that was developed by Solace House volunteer Mary Younger in memory of her 8 month old daughter Hannah Elaine. Hannah lived a short but remarkable life that forever impacted those who knew and loved her. She died on December 24, 1997 from complications following open heart surgery.

Mary developed Hannah’s Heart as a way of keeping her daughter’s memory alive and promote healing for families who have lost a loved one. "Send Down an Angel" is the title song for a new collection of original songs composed and performed by local artist Wes Winters. This CD was written and recorded as a benefit for Solace House. Wes' own grief recovery from the loss of his youngest brother, Kent, provided much of the inspiration for the music on this CD.

When producers, Kerry Layton and his wife, Bobbu Abram, heard Wes sing the title song "Send Down an Angel" they realized that this music could be used for a greater purpose. Kerry and Bobbi set out to find a home for this special project. Through Bank of America, they were guided to Solace House, and it became immediately obvious that this music and the mission of Solace House were meant to be united. Due to the generosity of the Victor E. Speas Foundation, this recording was made possible to benefit those in need of comfort and solace.
